I came to Oswald’s based on a recommendation from my hair stylist. I was telling her that Meineke (a lube shop that we don’t have here in IF) told me I needed new tires and new brake pads when I got my last oil change. I wasn’t sure I actually needed those things replaced, and being a woman who has been taken advantage of due to lack of car knowledge before (I’m looking at you Grease Monkey on Channing), I felt uncertain on how/when to proceed. I’m supposed to be going on a road trip soon, and with it being winter, I wanted my car looked at so I can fix everything that needs to be done before hitting the road. I was definitely nervous before I walked through the door because I wasn’t sure what kind of bill I would be hit with when I left with my car. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted with extreme kindness and professionalism. If I had the gentleman’s name, I would definitely list it here to give him proper appreciation. I explained my situation and that I basically just needed a diagnostic on my car. Since I waited in shop, I was able to see the process as they were examining my car. I waited for quite a while, but when it comes to safety, you want them to be thorough. Believe me, they were. When they had finished, they provided me with a sheet that had all the details of the diagnostics. The man I spoke with at this point answered all of my questions and didn’t make me feel dumb or like I was being taken advantage of. They explained the state of my car with transparency and explanations that I could understand. The best part of it all was that this inspection didn’t cost me a penny, which is something I really appreciate, considering what I’ll have to spend to maintain my car. Even though Oswald’s told me they couldn’t help me with the tire services I would need, I think I will definitely be coming here for my next oil change.
